ArtSilk
Spider silk water-based spinning process
Synthetic fibers cause 500,000 tons of ocean microplastics and 40% of textile CO₂ emissions each year.
ArtSilk develops artificial spider silk fibers through a water-based, non-toxic spinning process mimicking spider biology.
ArtSilk designed designed spider silk proteins that are produced in large amounts by bacteria and spun in water-based, room temperature processes to create strong, biodegradable, and recyclable fibers, outperforming both conventional and synthetic materials without toxic solvents or high energy input.
